INTERNATIONAL GREYHOUND PLANET DAY
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2008

Christ Church Cathedral Hall
420 Sparks Street (free parking beside Church)

10:00am to 4:00pm

What is it?

The greyhound, one of the most ancient of breeds, has had a remarkably colourful history, starting with its role as a supreme hunting dog, its changing role as a coursing dog, to its current status as track racing dog, show dog and loving companion. The greyhound is possibly the forerunner of a breed of canines belonging to the "sight-hound" family, and is undoubtedly the best known of the breed.

Greyhound Planet is a time chosen each year to honor the greyhound and its relatives (galgos, lurchers, etc.) throughout the world.  Bring the whole family and meet some retired racing greyhounds up close and chat with their adoptive families.  Learn more about these canine athletes, have a bite to eat, hang out and have some fun.

Everyone and their canine companions (leashed) are welcome.

Who am I helping?

Funds raised will go to support the work of two rescue groups that specialize in finding forever homes for senior dogs.

Hopeful Hearts, is a non-profit dog rescue in Ottawa, Ontario. Hopeful Hearts Rescue was created in late September 2007 to help fill a void in the local rescue world for senior and special needs dogs

Although the majority of Greyhounds acquired by H.O.T. are retired racers, H.O.T. is committed to helping all Greyhounds in need, including retired brood matrons, retired stud dogs, those with physical impairments, those not fast enough to race, seniors, in other words, any Greyhound in need.
