INTERNATIONAL GREYHOUND
PLANET DAY
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2008
Christ Church Cathedral
Hall
420 Sparks Street (free parking beside Church)
10:00am to 4:00pm
What is it?
The
greyhound, one of the most ancient of breeds, has had a remarkably colourful
history, starting with its role as a supreme hunting dog, its changing role
as a coursing dog, to its current status as track racing dog, show dog and
loving companion. The greyhound is possibly the forerunner of a breed of
canines belonging to the "sight-hound" family, and is undoubtedly the best
known of the breed.
Greyhound Planet is a time
chosen each year to honor the greyhound and its relatives (galgos, lurchers,
etc.) throughout the world. Bring the whole family and meet some retired
racing greyhounds up close and chat with their adoptive families. Learn
more about these canine athletes, have a bite to eat, hang out and have some
fun.
Everyone and their
canine companions (leashed) are welcome.
